Samsung unveils its First Foldable Smartphone as FlexPai
Samsung has
been beaten to the launch of a flexible/foldable phone name as FlexPai. Samsung
just launched the Flexpai Smartphone as - android/phone tablet with a flexible
display that folds in half.
The FlexPai
when I'm folded have a 7.8-inch screen with a resolution of

1920 x 1440. This device comes with a
flexible OLED display and the device is pretty bulky coming in at 134 x 190 x
7.6 mm and weighs 320 grams.

The FlexPai
runs on a 2.8 gigahertz Snapdragon 8 series system. So this is no doubt the
Snapdragon 855 or 850 depending on what Qualcomm decide to call it.
There are
three variants available as 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, 8
GB RAM with 512 GB storage. It has dual cameras 16 megapixel and 20-megapixel
sensors and it's powered by a
3800 mAh battery.
The price is
expected to be between 1300 $ and 1850 $ depending on which variety you choose
the screens. Bending has passed a bend test of over 200,000 times. So it shows
that the screen is durable. One thing we can notice from the Screen is some
strange reflections of the lights coming up for this screen when we are trying
to fold the device.
It runs on
water OS, which is based on Android 9 and it's specially designed for this
model in its folded state display. It will only be on one side of the screen
and the other simply being the wallpaper.
The screen
display also stays quite far away from the band giving it a bit of an odd look
when it's folded, it also doesn't fall completely flat. So it's still a bulky
device for its user to carry around, even in its folded state. So it's great
that we're seeing these next generations of phones
Both Huawei
and Samsung are working on foldable devices. With Samsung's product likely to
be shown off at the developer conference this month, I would expect the
offering from Samsung will be much more polished devices, even if it's just a
prototype being shown. All we know from Samsung is they've created two
different versions one has a vertical foldable and one has a horizontal
foldable phone and there will be a usable four inch display when folded.
